Learning About Warts – The Basics

Although they could sometimes confuse you, warts are not the same as moles. Warts are smaller and can sometimes appear to be the same shade as the skin, while moles are darker and larger in size. They could be rough to the touch and also a bit lumpy and more often grow on an individual’s feet or hands. However, it does not limit itself to those areas.

Now, there is no cause for alarm. Warts are not cancerous. It is a kind of skin growth caused by HPV or Human Papilloma Virus. HPV causes keratin to grow in the epidermis faster than normal that is why you see warts popping in different parts of your body. They are also very contagious and spread very easily to other parts of the body if not taken care of in a timely matter.

There are different kinds of warts, and it all depends on where they are located. The most common wart is called Verucca Vulgaris. These may look like tiny cauliflowers and have a rough surface. Veruccas(AKA plantar warts), on the other hand, are warts on the soles, heels and toes on your feet. Verucca plana are flat warts that are brown/yellow in color, smooth and ideally flat. Filiform warts are those that grow on the neck, the armpits and the eyelids. Mosaic warts usually grown on the hands and feet, and appear in clusters.

What about genital warts? While other people sometimes consider it as funny, genital warts (or venereal warts) are actually a type of sexually transmitted disease. It’s contagious and it can grow either on the external genitals or a person’s anus. These are usually considered benign, but recent studies show that there have been reports of malignant cases.

Usually, non-STD warts need not be consulted with a doctor anymore as there are ways for painless wart removal. There are home remedies you could do without having to ask a physician for a medication or a minor surgical procedure. These wart removal methods are all-natural and considered to be 100% painless and safe. Some people might visit a dermatologist to have them removed, one such procedure might be to have them burned or frozen off, however if this doesn’t sound like what you want to do and would rather keep things private in the comfort of your own home, then you can use topical creams like Dermisil, H-Warts, Wartrol, and Warts Formula Tincture. I review them each on this site and you can read the full product reviews to get a better understanding on what each does and what product is right for you.

These all-natural remedies have been proven to work and would save you the embarrassment of having to answer uncomfortable questions from your doctor (especially if they are genital warts). If you’re wary about home remedies such as these, you can ask your doctor about them so you’ll know which one they recommend, but it would do you a world of good to try these products first before you resort to surgery. These products are 100% safe and painless.

What have you got to lose? Except your warts, of course.
